Juvederm
Juvederm uses injections of hyaluronic acid gel to reduce the signs of aging.
As the gel is nearly identical to your naturally occurring hyaluronic acid, no skin test is required prior to treatment. If you believe this is a viable option for you, please call our office for a consultation with Dr. Filyk at Westside Medical Surgical Clinic.
You age and your skin is exposed to environmental pollutants as well as the sun's ultraviolet rays, your cells gradually lose the ability to produce hyaluronic acid. Studies have shown that older skin typically has lower levels of hyaluronic acid than that of younger skin. As you age, your skin tissue becomes dehydrated and the collagen and elastin fibers lose their structure, resulting in a loss of skin volume. This is why the formation of the facial wrinkles and folds are common characteristics of aged skin.
Most side effects of dermal fillers treatment are mild or moderate in nature, and their duration is short lasting (7 days or less). The most common side effects include, but are not limited to, temporary injections site reactions such as; redness, pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching, and discoloration. As with all skin injection procedures there is a risk of infection. Immediately after the injection, there may be a slight redness, swelling, tenderness or itching sensation at the treated area. This is only normal cause of the injection and the inconvenience is temporary, it generally goes away in a day or two.
Because it is similar to your naturally-occurring hyaluronic acid, there is no need to have a skin test prior to hyaluronic acid treatment. If you believe this is a viable option for you and are looking for hylauronic acid treatments in Calgary or the surrounding area, please call Westside Medical & Aesthetics for a free consultation now.
